Centennial Quilt Square Sales - The deadline for quilt squares has been changed to Monday, July 1. All Completed squares should be turned in at the library no later than Monday, July 1 by close of business at 5:00 PM. In celebration of the Mt. Sterling Public Library's 100 year mark, the Friends of the Library organization is selling 100 8.5"x 8.5" spaces for a quilt to be hung in the library for the next 100 years. The quilt will be revealed at the library's centennial celebration event on Saturday, August 10, from 9-3. A paper template with instructions is available for pick-up at the library upon payment of $20 per square. Anyone can purchase squares, and must create their own design on their own material. The material used must be cotton fabric only. Some suggestions for your design could be a memorial to someone, your family name(s) and/or crest, your company or business, a tribute to the library, or many other ideas. The quilt will then be assembled with sashing, backing, and batting by a group of volunteers, and on display in the library for the next 100 years. All proceeds from the quilt project will benefit library materials and programs.
